The Enemy
|

Introduction: By MEL-. Supposed to be complex in meaning. This has varied meanings, depends on how you see it. It could be suicide, or it could be a murder. As they say, “read between the lines!” ((: Especially the two paragraphs starting with “Judgment day..” The abandoned babies, the lepers, they all belong to the individual, they represent the many emotions felt by the person. This poem is basically about hatred for somebody and some other emotions! ‘The Enemy’ can be one’s emotions too. Originally written on 9 Feb 2008.

A past memory
Of something I should never have seen
Stains the bleak monstrosities
Of my mind
A blemish that I can never wipe off
So disturbing
So unbecoming

You grin all day
Obviously pleased with yourself
Yet everyday is a dreaded episode
I just want to slip into my dreams
And never awaken from the bliss
The torture you put me through

Maybe that’s why we have dreams
To help us forget reality
To help us envision another world
That could never exist

Stop these dark thoughts from pervading
The enemy, forthcoming
Prohibit – with no chance of revolution
Nobody wants to see a million tragedies taking place
Defend the impregnable fortress!
A shelter for the sore, the weak and the poisoned

Judgment day is approaching
As kings do nothing but indulge
As warriors fight hard and ministers complain
As the people’s lives are enriched with poverty and pain

As the lepers are scorned and the handicapped are ridiculed
As the orphans lay helpless on the very ground
Where abandoned babies wail with utter dismay
Everything and everyone is dying

All I do is collapse in despair
For a hopeless world that is ending too soon
Do you not see?
Can’t you try to understand, if only for once?

It is a game that you love to playYou murderer, you selfish arsonist
You set fire to the dwellings of my soul
May you perish in your honourable deceit
I have never known anybody
Who could be as coldAs you.
The powerful scenes replay
As history unwinds itself
I had such a beautiful life
Until you came along

All you ever did was destroy and ruin
Yourself
Today I get the last laugh
YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME FALL AGAIN

Goodbye, so long
Whatever you say
Doesn’t really matter to me anymore
Because hearts can never break twice
As thoughts in my mind run wild
All I can retort for now
Is that “I despise you”

Because I finally fulfilled my promise to you
Hold onto something, but no one can see you
I have finally got back what I deserve
I have repaid you a dozen times the pain

I will never forget all the times you let me down
The demon within me is beginning to subside
Wicked pleasure running through my veins
I admit that I am a sadist
For I am satisfied
When I see you
In this state of gore
Can I ever speak enough of this?
Kill me once, kill me twice
But all I needed was one opportunity
To tear you down, and pull you apart
Goodnight to you
You sick, abusive monster
I have had enough
You will never get another chance
To see me fall

Your game’s over
But it’s my turn now.
